Federal National Disability Insurance Scheme and Government Services Minister Stuart Robert toured the facility on Thursday with the Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace. Despite mounting pressure funds may be pulled by Coast philanthropist Roy Thompson if the Federal Government doesn t come to the party, Mr Wallace said he remained committed to seeking the funding. So far we have not been able to secure Federal Government funding for Sunshine Coast Stadium, but I do not take no for an answer, he said. I am continuing to advocate for the project with the Deputy Prime Minister, the Prime Minister and the Treasurer and I will take every opportunity to promote it among my colleagues in Canberra.
He said it would require upgrades to local sporting infrastructure, opening up the âperfect opportunityâ for the Federal Government to provide the $20 million of remaining funds needed to kickstart a $68 million Sunshine Coast Stadium expansion.
Mr Wallace confirmed heâd written to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, asking them to reconsider if they could âopen the Treasury coffersâ and make $20 million available.
He said it was a great opportunity for a âchange of heartâ from the Federal Government.
âThis is a great opportunity now for the Federal Government to get on board,â Mr Wallace said.
We are putting in $20 million. The Federal Government seems to be missing in action. I notice the mayor is asking where is the $20 million from the Federal Government? It is vital that that project gets upgraded. She then prompted an interjection from Mr Bleijie, before continuing. Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie. Picture: Josh Woning Oh, that is right. I put in the $20 million, Ms Palaszczuk said. Where are your mates in Canberra? Mr Bleijie told the
Daily on Thursday morning that he supported the expansion of the stadium. I have been regularly speaking to Andrew Wallace MP (Federal Member for Fisher) about the missing piece to the puzzle, he said.
