Sam Rolnick said he had a terrifying experience at Aldenham Reservoir An experienced hiker has called for safety measures after he sank to his waist in what he likened to quicksand during a visit to a reservoir. Sam Rolnick was with his young son at Aldenham Reservoir over the weekend when he says he began sinking in mud. He described the experience as terrifying and wants to warn others of the hidden danger. He said: I was with my son who loves nature. We saw some fisherman and while my son was talking to one of them, I’ve gone round the back of the bivvy (tent) and landed in what’s turned into an extremely deep mud pile.
Richard Jenkins, new Commodore at Aldenham Sailing Club, at the gate of the storage compound which has now been handed back to Hertfordshire County Council A sailing club has officially left its home of more than 80 years. Aldenham Sailing Club handed back the last of its property at Aldenham Reservoir to Hertfordshire County Council in mid-January. Previously, the club s main compound was transferred back to the private owners of the reservoir, Liberty Lake Leisure Ltd. The sailing club announced in June last year with great sadness that it was ending its lease in response to the owners reducing the water level in the reservoir.
