One of the biggest winners of Friday’s announcement to changes of the 2021 Spring Racing Carnival appears to be the Cranbourne Turf Club, who have benched their two-day carnival for the opportunity to host a standalone Saturday fixture the week after the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The Cranbourne Cup will be conducted on November 13 and offer an increased $500,000 in prizemoney over a new distance of 1600 metres.
“It is a great opportunity for our club being offered the opportunity to run a standalone Saturday meeting during the Spring Racing Carnival this year,” Cranbourne Turf Club CEO Neil Bainbridge told

Caulfield and hosted on
Saturday, November 27, a fortnight later than its traditional timeslot.
