Red Bank Commissioners Taking Look At Possible Tax Increase; Civility Training For Commissioners Set On Thursday Tuesday, July 20, 2021 - by Gail Perry
Red Bank Interim City Manager John Alexander has received the certified property tax rate from Hamilton County which is $0.9923 per $100 of assessed value of the property. That rate has been approved by the state of Tennessee. The city will set the actual rate for the coming year. Commissioners have the option of using the certified rate or increasing it. There will be a public hearing to decide if .9923 will be kept or if it will be increased.
Commissioner Ruth Jeno said that the average property in the city increased in value by 40 percent with the recent reappraisals by the Hamilton County assessor’s office. Some values she said increased as much as 60 percent. Exit Employment Agreement For Red Bank City Manager Tim Thornbury Is Finally Approved Wednesday, May 19, 2021 - by Gail Perry At the fifth meeting about City Manager Tim Thornbury’s status in Red Bank, an amendment to the employment agreement between the city and Mr. Thornbury was approved. At the commission meeting Thursday night, despite repeated attempts by the mayor and vice mayor to alter the proposal, the vote was to accept it as written. The original contract between the city and Mr. Thornbury was entered into on Nov. 6, 2018 when the responsibilities of the city manager were added to his existing position as director of the public works department and building inspector.

There is trouble at small city, dysfunction junction once again. The drama of the small cities of Hamilton County is cyclic. Hamilton County lifelong natives know this, and so do the two primary local governments, they say, here goes Red Bank again, or here goes Collegedale.
It is expected drama, subject of local mockery, and mostly ignored by the majority of Hamilton County residents, especially for those of us that don’t live in the small cities. The locals call them, “circus without a ringmaster.”
That is until their dysfunction spills over, littering Hamilton County with backwards insults, and personal attacks.
