Proposed as long as 12 years ago, the possible impact of HS2 is still rumbling on today.
BKJV, a joint venture between Bauer Technologies and Keller, has been awarded a £95m contract to complete geotechnical work on the first phase of HS2.
The JV will construct piled foundations for structures along the 80km-long C23 section of HS2, which runs between Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. The area includes 15 viaducts, more than 80 bridges, 7km of green tunnels and 30 million cubic meters of excavation. The JV is also responsible for constructing secant piled and slurry walls, and installing pressure relief drains. The venture has completed its initial preliminary pile testing and main works at the site are set to start in April, with completion set for 2024.
