KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 The police confirmed today that an investigation has been launched against ex-attorney general (AG) Tan Sri Tommy Thomas over the latter’s memoir
My Story: Justice in the Wilderness after a former senior Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) officer alleged criminal defamation in the book.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Fadzil Ahmat confirmed the matter when asked if the authorities would be commencing investigations against Thomas over the contents of the latter’s book as alleged by former solicitor general III Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria after lodging a police report.
PETALING JAYA: The police have arrested 17 people as investigations into a drug turf war between rival gangs in Taman Juara Jaya, Cheras continues. Up until now, 17 people have been arrested. All have been remanded and there are those whose remands will be extended, said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat in a text message to the media on Wednesday (Feb 3).
He added that a police sweep under Ops Cantas was initiated by the Selangor Criminal Investigations Department. Other CIDs in the Selangor contingent have also been mobilised. At the same time, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department has also been mobilised under this Ops Cantas, he added.

FORMER attorney-general Tommy Thomas is being investigated for criminal defamation following a report lodged by a former senior federal counsel on comments made in the book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said “We will call him (Thomas) in to record his statement at the earliest possible time to assist ongoing investigations,” he told reporters today.

Selangor Criminal Investigations Department Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the “Datuk” suspect, 42, and his accomplice, a 39-year-old man, were taken into custody Thursday.
