The Punxsutawney School Board covered several items during their voting meeting held Tuesday.
The board approved new drivers and new stops at locations along London Road, Route 119, Bouch Lane, Rita’s Court, and Scotland Avenue Extension and the replacement of the elementary school roof top. The board approved the school calendar, including official local holidays, for the 2021-2022 school year with the first student day being August 24, 2021. Board Members approved a purchase order from Intrado Interactive Services for a school messenger service .
Board members also approved several personnel items including Senior Class Variety Show advisors, retirement letters from Denise Giest, full-time Cafeteria Manager and Marilyn Heitzenrater, part-time special education instructional assistant. “I appreciate my family and friends a lot more than I used to. And the time we have together is more precious. Cause you just don’t know when their last day might be, or when my last day might be. And I find that I pray a lot more.
This school year has been very different. Now we’re taking lunches to all of the classrooms. We can’t even go in the classrooms. We don’t see the children. The teachers pass out the meals. Each teacher gets a hot and a cold box. And they pass out the meals themselves to the children.
