OMG is Canada’s startup answer to the local news crisis
Local news has been battered over the past two decades. The rise of the internet shredded some of the long-held monopolies of newspapers and local TV stations on news and classified ads, while social networks like Facebook, Nextdoor and Citizen have increasingly pulled in reader attention for neighborhood updates. Newspapers have closed, journalists have been decimated and there are increasing numbers of “news deserts” with no coverage whatsoever.
At the same time, there is a creator revolution underway right now in online media. Audience development, community and subscription are coming together in fresh ways that seem particularly opportune for local journalism today. Will these new sets of tools finally allow for the rebuilding of local journalism after the last era of hollowing out?

Who is Joe Rogan?
Outspoken Joe Rogan, 53, is one of the world s highest paid and most popular podcast hosts.
From 2001-2006, Rogan hosted Fear Factor before concentrating on stand-up gigs and comedy specials - with a joke about actor Wesley Snipes nearly ended up in a brawl between the pair.
On his Twitter bio, he describes himself as a stand up comic/mixed martial arts fanatic/psychedelic adventurer, and host of The Joe Rogan Experience .
ZenHub raises $5.9 million CAD seed round to help automate tasks for developers
ZenHub, a Vancouver-based provider of GitHub-embedded project management and collaboration software, has raised $5.9 million CAD ($4.7 million USD) in its first institutional financing round.
The seed round was co-led by BDC Capital and Ripple Ventures. Other participants include Inovia Capital, and a number of angel investors, including Adam Gross, former CEO of Heroku; Jiaona Zhang, VP of product at Webflow; and Oji Udezue, VP of product at Calendly.

ZenHub, which targets medium-to-large-sized businesses, offers a number of tools aimed to streamline project management tasks for software developers. These tasks include reporting, tracking tasks with boards, and creating product roadmaps.
