Like syndicated reruns of a classic television show, the Ste. Genevieve County Commission’s warnings about the erosion of Becker road continue to play over and over.
In February 2017, Presiding Commissioner Garry Nelson expressed concern about Fourche a DuClos Creek eating into the road bank. Even then, he was already expressing frustrations about trying to get the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to take the issue seriously.
“We’ve sent letters and pictures,” Nelson said in 2017. “We’ve been playing this game for eight years. It’s four feet from washing out.”

Barry Electric Annual Meeting set for April 22
The Barry Electric Cooperations Annual Meeting has been scheduled for April 22. Registration and voting at the meeting will begin at noon, and the business session will be called to order at 1 p.m. Early registration and voting will run starting April 15 at the Barry Electric office, during regular business hours, and through April 22 at 10 a.m. Members who voted early will not be allowed to vote again at the Annual Meeting. Candidates on the ballot include:
District 1 Candidate: Ronnie Thomas
District 2 Candidate: Connie Butler
District 3 Candidates: Richard Asbill and Aubrey Wolf
