For years, she has been crocheting or knitting things for others, like baby blankets and quilts.
âItâs just something I do,â she said. âYou give back.â
Mehr said she started about 12 or 13 years ago, focusing on items for children until the place she was donating them stopped taking them.
âI started to make them for kids and I had like two big bags of them and took them to the place and they said, âOh, we arenât doing this anymore,ââ she said. âI thought, oh OK. What can I do now?â

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Several area City leaders and health experts has announced the recipients of the BBB Excellence in Community Service Award.
The awards will be presented at BBB’s NEW BBB Big Blue Bash, on May 21.
The Excellence in Community Service Award is given to individuals who have shown unfailing dedication to serving the community and who bring the core values set forth by the BBB to their everyday practices.
