The Queen of Caldecott Hill once again proved why she is showbiz royalty by snagging one of the highest honours at Star Awards 2021.
At the end of the awards ceremony held on Sunday (April 18), the 53-year-old walked away with the Best Actress award for her role in the 2020 drama My Guardian Angels. She was nominated alongside other formidable actresses - Felicia Chin, Rebecca Lim, Rui En, Chen Liping, Kym Ng, and Carrie Wong.

Speaking to local media over Zoom, the Mediacorp Ah Jie said of her win: All the other nominees are really good. It s not that they re not. Maybe the judges like my role more.

Star Awards 2021 nominees revealed – this year s show includes new category The number of nominees for most of the categories have been upsized to seven from the usual five because this year s show takes into consideration two years of productions and talents.

After skipping 2020 because of the pandemic, Star Awards is back this year to celebrate Singapore s Chinese-language entertainment industry and it’s looking to be an exciting night with the list of nominees just revealed on Thursday (Feb 4).

“The Boy Foretold by the Stars,” a story about two boys discovering the thrill of young romance, received 12 nominations at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival awards.
“Good morning po sa inyong lahat, nais po naming ibahagi sa inyo ang galak na nararamdaman ng Clever Minds producers kasama si Ms Jodi Sta. Maria dahil nakakuha ng 12 nominations ang The Boy Foretold by the Stars sa MMFF 2020. Malaking bahagi po kayo sa napakagandang balitang ito dahil sa magagandang sinulat ninyo. Maraming salamat po. Happy holidays,” read a text message on Dec. 24.
Its nominations are: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Gat Puno Memorial Award, Best Supporting Actor, Best Production Design, Best Theme Song, Best Sound, Gender Sensitivity, Best Cinematography, and Best Musical Score.
