WORCESTER – State Sen. Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester, and several other lawmakers have filed a bill aimed at alleviating food insecurity at public colleges and universities in the state.
“An Act establishing the Massachusetts Hunger-Free Campus Initiative” includes steps like creating a hunger prevention task force, developing student meal credit-sharing programs, and establishing emergency funds for students in need of financial support. It also would provide funding to help schools implement those measures. Access to food is a fundamental survival need and all students deserve a hunger-free campus. Unfortunately, food insecurity and hunger are daily struggles for some Massachusetts college students, many of whom are already saddled by loan debt and the stress of schoolwork,” said Chandler. “This bill seeks to empower students and colleges to address food insecurity together and to chart a path towards hunger-free campuses statewide.”

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio Three teams from Orange High School are advancing to the Ohio Mock Trial district competition Jan. 28 and 30.
This year’s competition is virtual, which has made it even more challenging than usual, according to a news release from the Orange City School District.

There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than a glass of cold water. I know you may have another favorite, and in the Southern part of the United States it’s hard to compete with sweet tea. But for me, water wins.
In chapter 4 of John’s gospel there is a story that deals with Jesus, a well, a woman, and water. In this chapter in the book of John, Jesus stops by a well and asks a Samaritan woman for a drink of water. Within the conversation Jesus proceeds to make the following statement:
“Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water’” (John 4:10).
