The Connecticut State Colleges & University s North-West region topped the list of the state s community colleges in the 2021 Niche Best Community Colleges rankings.
In the list of best Connecticut community colleges, Niche ranked Asnuntuck number 1, followed by Tunxis at number 2, and Northwestern CT in the third spot. The list is based on analysis
of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Census and FBI, as well as reviews from students, alumni and parents. While Asnuntuck, Tunxis and Northwestern CT have long been recognized as wonderful places to learn, grow, and start on new academic and career paths, we re very proud of our staff and faculty for earning this statewide distinction, and for their efforts in helping our students succeed and reach their goals, said Dr. James Lombella, North-West regional president of the Connecticut Community Colleges.
Craven Community College (Craven CC) faculty, staff and students faced unprecedented challenges in 2020. The college did its best to adapt quickly to the unfolding situation while helping students continue their education as seamlessly as possible. Although this year saw more unique setbacks than in the academic institution’s 52-year history, everyone came together to overcome the obstacles and ended up having a very productive year in the process. The following are some highlights from the college’s 2020 accomplishments.
COVID-19 and the New Normal
Since the pandemic began, Craven CC’s faculty and staff have worked hard to prepare a path forward for students, even as social distancing and mandatory closures hindered the ability to continue with traditional face-to-face instruction. Advisors continued to process college applications and financial aid requests through email while also registering students for classes. They personally reached out to each student who withdrew fr
West Kentucky Community and Technical College President Anton Reece could have been paying homage to Charles Dickens when he summarized 2020 in a virtual address to the Paducah Rotary Club Wednesday.
âIn many ways it was the best of times and it was certainly among the most challenging times,â he said, during the noon presentation to members via Zoom.
The best of times was a reference to the collegeâs continued success in achieving state and national recognition for its commitment to excellence in education. The challenges, as you might expect, centered around COVID-19.
âCOVID has absolutely had a significant impact on so many levels, on our city, on our individuals .. and certainly our college,â Reece said.
