Seven years after leaving the TARDIS behind, Matt Smith is joining another fantasy franchise, and he’s bringing a few other recognizable faces with him. According to Deadline, Smith has been cast in
House of the Dragon alongside Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy. The series is a prequel to
Smith, Cooke, and D’Arcy will play three of five lead characters on the new show. Smith is starring as Prince Daemon Targaryen, a “peerless warrior and a dragonrider” who is also the younger brother of Paddy Considine’s King Viserys I. Cooke is Alicent Hightower, whose father, Otto Hightower, serves as Hand of the King. Alicent is described as “the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms” who also possesses a “keen political acumen.”
