Two windfarms and up to 400 jobs in the Southern Downs are a step closer to reality with the State Assessment and Referral Agency giving the green light.
Deputy Premier and Planning Minister Steven Miles said Acciona received approval to build the $1.96 billion MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct (the Precinct) at Cement Mills, approximately 40 kilometres south-west of Warwick.
“Soon there will be 180 wind turbines in the Darling Downs South West region propelling up to 1026 megawatts of energy into Queensland’s electricity network,” Mr Miles said.
Queensland's state government has approved the construction of Spanish energy company Acciona’s 1.026 gigawatts (GW) Maclntyre wind complex in the Southern Downs region.
Arabian Cement faces mill project delay at Rabigh plant 23 April 2021
Arabian Cement Co said its new cement mill project at the Rabigh plant has been delayed by 150 days and will now be completed in the 4Q21.
The delay was due to contractor China National Building Materials Corp being unable to travel to Saudi Arabia to complete the installation and commissioning work because of coronavirus travel restrictions.

Acciona’s plans to develop a massive wind energy precinct with a capacity of more than more than 1000MW in south-west Queensland have been given the green light by the state government’s State Assessment and Referral Agency.
Queensland deputy Premier confirmed on Wednesday that Acciona had received approval to build the $1.96 billion project at Cement Mills, around 40km south-west of Warwick, which would install 180 turbines across two wind farms totalling 1,026MW.
Acciona said the approval cleared the way for the so-called MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct – the global wind energy developer’s largest project yet – to move to the next stage of development, with construction expected to start in in the second half of this year.
