COVID-19 hasn t kept Sidewalk Hope from bringing Christmas cheer to children living in Spartanburg s housing developments.
More than 450 Christmas Blessing Bags are being delivered over the next two weeks just in time for the holiday season. It s been a difficult year for those who have been served by Sidewalk Hope since the children s ministry had to scale back its programs to help keep everyone safe during the pandemic.
Sidewalk Hope has continued its efforts to ensure the ministry maintains a presence despite the challenges. We have four sites we visit kids year round, said Chip Walters, Sidewalk Hope founder and executive director. Sidewalk Hope has built relationships with them over the last six years and this year has been really overwhelming dealing with COVID-19. So many things have been hard for these kids and we wanted them to have Christmas like they normally would.
