SRB revenue collection surges 21pc to Rs128bn in FY2020-21 July 2, 2021 The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) for the financial year ended on 30th June 2021 has collected Rs128 billion, showing an increase of 21 percent when compared to Rs106 billion collected during the last financial year 2019-20. According to a press statement issued by SRB, despite the general economic slowdown and resurgence of Covid-19 during the year, the performance remained impressive. According to details, the collection of Rs128 billion includes record receipts of Rs121 billion of Sindh sales tax, representing an increase of 21 percent over collection of Rs100 billion during the last financial year 2019-20. The collection of Sindh Workers Welfare Fund during the financial year 2020-21 remained Rs7 billion as compared to Rs6 billion collected during the last financial year 2019-20, showing a growth of over 17 percent. At a ceremony held at the Chief Minister s House, the provincial government launched the card under which labourers across Sindh would be entitled to avail benefits such as education, health and financial assistance under the Sindh Workers Welfare Fund Act 2014 and amendment 2018 provided they register themselves with the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) and pay contribution at the rate of six percent of the minimum wage fixed by the provincial government.

Sindh cabinet approves Rs2bn economic package for the poor Karachi April 2, 2021 As part of its pro-poor economic revival package, the Sindh government has decided to launch the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme to offer interest-free small loans to deserving people. This decision was taken during the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House on Thursday. The chief executive said that the Covid-19 situation has rendered a large number of people unemployed or under-employed. “Now is the time to introduce a pro-poor economic package, under which interest-free small loans may be offered to people to start their small businesses or strengthen their current business activities,” he said, adding that he can spare Rs2 billion in the current financial year to begin with.
