The COVID protocols and guidelines at New York nursing homes may have eased a bit over the last few months, but it hasn t slowed down Cynthia s compassion and service to the people in her care. Her daughter, Aaryel Termini, nominated her for our weekly salute saying Mom arrives to work two hours early everyday ensuring her patients have their needed comforts even something as simple as a glass of ice-water or placing a phone call to family members.
No Fourth of July fireworks display in Alexandria this year

The City of Alexandria will not host a fireworks display on July 4 this year after members of the Alexandria City Council voted the measure down Tuesday night, states a press release issued by the city.
The request failed 4-3 with council members Reddex Washington, Gerber Porter, Cynthia Perry and Catherine Davidson voting against the fireworks display slated for Sunday, July 4 in downtown Alexandria. Voting for the fireworks display were Council President Jim Villard, Chuck Fowler and Lee Rubin.
“We are disappointed with the vote, but we encourage residents to celebrate our nation with our neighboring cities and at home this year,” quoted Mayor Jeff Hall in the release. Hall had requested the measure.

After Backlash, Salesforce Increases Minority Hires With a Focus on Black Women
After public condemnation for its treatment of non-White employees, Salesforce is trying to do better.
Salesforce shared new employee diversity statistics data as of April 2021, pointing out that in April 2020, there were 4.0% Black, 5.0% Latinx and 12.7% total underrepresented minorities hired. April 2021’s numbers rose to 8.1% Black, 6.8% Latinx and 18.8% total under-represented minorities who were hired by the cloud computing leader.
Another initiative entailed “designing a company-wide strategy focused on the Black Women experience to accelerate representation, create access, address microaggressions, and develop Black leaders,” according to Salesforce.
