The College Fix) â A coffee shop owner who left Boise State University last year after activists complained about her support for police has filed a tort claim against the college seeking $10 million in damages.
The March 24 claim, which is a precursor to a lawsuit, alleges slander, contract interference, fraud, and violations of constitutional rights, among other things.
Sarah Jo Fendley is owner of Big City Coffee, a shop in Idahoâs capital city that closed its brand new extension on the Boise State campus in October 2020.
It was widely reported at the time that the closure happened because of Fendleyâs support for Thin Blue Line, a nonpolitical campaign to support police officers.

“The Sheriff of Inyo County, Jeffery Hollowell, elected on June 5, 2018 and took office July 13, 2018, has filed a $20,000,000 Government Tort Claim against the County of Inyo. This action was taken in connection with the illegal release of confidential records, libel and slander, and arises from the actions of the Deputy Director of Personnel, her nephew former county employee Reuben Bradley, and former county employee Joshua Nicholson.”
“A Government Tort Claim is something that precedes the filing of a lawsuit which will be filed in the United States District Court shortly”, stated his attorney, Anthony M. Perez of Sacramento, California. “The County of Inyo has 45-days to accept, reject or avoid responding” Perez said. ”

The Superintendent of the San Ysidro School District hired a woman he was in a relationship with and later retaliated against an employee that warned him about the potential conflict of interest in hiring her.
Dr. Julio Fonseca, 41, became the Superintendent in June 2015 after the District’s former leader, Manuel Paul, was indicted in a wide-ranging corruption scandal that lead to the conviction of 15 other defendants. Paul pled guilty to accepting cash from a prospective contractor and was sentenced to 60 days in federal custody.
For Fonseca, who previously served as Assistant Superintendent at Bassett Unified School District in Los Angeles County, the position at San Ysidro is his first assignment
