Law enforcement responding to barricaded subject at a camp in Meade County

Law enforcement agencies are responding to reports of a barricaded person near Sacora Station Campground in the 14000 block of Sturgis Road in Meade County. NON-COMBATANT EVACUATION EXERCISE TODAY ABOARD THE MARINE BASE

The Marines on the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms will hold a non-combatant evacuation operation exercise today (Friday April 16). The exercise will be held at the Lance Corporal Torrey Gray Field on the base from 1 to 10 p.m. Roads around the field will also be closed during that time: Sturgis Road, Fifth and Sixth Streets, and the Del Valle track and field. Areas closed from 4 to 10 p.m. are Third Street between Bourke and Del Valle, and Del Valle Road from First to Fourth Streets. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 24 begin to check role-players through their Evacuation Control Center set at Del Valle Field aboard the Combat Center, as part of a Non-combatant Evacuation Operation exercise in 2016.

Two crews of suspected catalytic converter thieves arrested

Authorities arrested two crews of suspected catalytic converter thieves  all out-of-county residents  in separate incidents this week in Camarillo and Oxnard. At around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a reported catalytic converter theft in Camarillo. A neighbor provided a description of the suspect vehicle and which way it had gone, according to the Ventura County Sheriff s Office, which provides police services in the city. Patrol deputies pulled over the car near Pleasant Valley Road and Highway 101. While contacting the three occupants, deputies saw catalytic converters and saw blades in the rear of the vehicle, officials said. A search turned up five catalytic converters, a Dewalt saw with multiple blades, three sets of gloves and some heroin, the agency reported.
