The doors cracked open Monday morning on the Florida Gators’ team bus. Player by player, the men’s squad stepped off the vehicle in their color-coordinated, orange t-shirts.
Freshman Ben Shelton showed off his excitement with a brightening smile, but the rest of the Gators’ arsenal carried a straight face, determined to get started with the tournament.

Before the athletes geared up to take the floor on Tuesday afternoon, South Carolina took the chance to celebrate their seniors who prepare to begin a new chapter. After the roses and framed photographs were distributed, the party rolled on into doubles play.
The South Carolina couples brought their broomsticks to sweep out what the Gators had to offer. Each matchup ended in a 6-3 score except for the second string battle with UF’s Ida Jarlskog and Layne Sleeth against Silvia Chinellato and Emma Shelton.

The ball zoomed off the rackets of Florida duo Layne Sleeth and Ida Jarskog into Vandy’s Emma Kurtz and Marcella Cruz to ignite a chaotic final rally. The opponents did everything they could to break the cycle but the couples traded blows for more than ten rallies.
