Charmadi Ghat: curbs eased - The Hindu

Ramesh, on Wednesday, issued an order allowing the movement of all light motor vehicles 24 hours a day on the Charmadi Ghat stretch of National Highway 73. Earlier, there were restrictions on the movement of the vehicles on the stretch due to landslides during heavy rains. The DC issued the order on Tuesday allowing the light motor vehicles between the district border and Kottigehara on the Mangaluru-Tumakuru highway. The vehicles allowed are KSRTC buses, six-wheel trucks, four-wheelers, tempo travellers, ambulance, cars, vans, minivans and two-wheelers. The vehicles whose movement on the stretch are restricted include bullet tankers, cargo containers, long chassis vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, multi-axle trucks, KSRTC-Rajahamasa and all other heavy goods carriers.

Ramesh instructed the district-level officers of various departments to utilise funds under the Special Component Plan (SCP) and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) within the stipulated time. He reviewed the progress of SCP and TSP works in his office on Tuesday. So far only 75% of the funds allocated were utilised. Last year by this time 95% progress was achieved, he noted. “The officers have to utilise the funds before March 30. The beneficiaries of various schemes under these plans should be selected by following the set procedure. The list of beneficiaries selected should be announced online”, he suggested.

Three-day urs in Chikkamagaluru from March 29

Updated: Share Article AAA The three-day annual urs at Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swami Dargah in Chikkamagaluru taluk will be held between March 29 and 31. Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner K.N. Ramesh on Wednesday held a meeting with district officials to discuss the preparations for the event. He directed the officials to ensure basic amenities, such as drinking water, transport, and a temporary shed facility, for the devotees participating in the urs. He said the road to the shrine, Manikyadhara and Galikere should be repaired. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation officials were directed to ensure transport facilities for the devotees. Officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department were told to ensure an ambulance and emergency health facility at the shrine.
