One year ago at this time Becky Lynch, in the midst of an imperial phase that cemented her as arguably the greatest WWE women s wrestler of all time, set up a feud with Asuka for the Royal Rumble. The premise of the feud was that Becky wanted to avenge her loss to Asuka at the previous year s Rumble event, thus cleansing the only blemish on her otherwise stellar 18 month run. One year later it s Asuka sitting atop the mountain having been chosen as Lynch s successor when Lynch went on maternity leave. You d be forgiven if you forgot that Asuka was the champion though. Instead of going into her second Rumble in the last three years as a defending champion in a strong feud, she s a double champion drowning in the sea of mediocrity and nothingness that is the Raw women s division.
