After the vote, Wiltshire Council said it will consider reinstating the scheme, with councillor Bridget Wayman, Cabinet Member for Highways, saying the council was pleased that SCC has debated and agreed a motion on this important scheme , and that it continues to support it . Cllr Wayman: “We will look to revisit this scheme in 2021, and will consider reinstating it with continued support from all stakeholders in the city.” The support of SCC will remain an important factor in the future of the scheme going forward, and leaders of Wiltshire Council will be keeping an eye on the make-up of SCC once the elections are over.

A CAMPSITE owner has criticised the road map out of lockdown, saying it doesn t make sense and describing it as absolutely ridiculous . Step 2 of the easing of government restrictions, which is from no earlier than April 12, will see the opening of non-essential retail, public buildings, indoor leisure facilities, most outdoor attractions and settings including outdoor hospitality venues, zoos, theme parks, and drive-in cinemas.

Pete Rushforth, 32, and Ben Whatsley, 42, have set up a community interest company called Rise, Resound, Rebuild (R3), and want to turn the former youth centre into a cultural hub that reinvests profits back into the city . Both are from Salisbury, went to school here and have worked in the area for over twenty years. Pete is an engineer, and Ben is one of the founding members of Bass Connection, and runs his own music business with a Prince’s Trust grant. The pair met 10 years ago and have been friends ever since.

Grosvenor and Riverside House, on Churchfields Road, was a children’s home in the 1950s, and a youth and community centre from the 1970s. The petition seeks to cancel the current sale of the property, and to forbid it from being redeveloped into residential housing and instead permit Rise Resound Rebuild CIC to renovate the property into a Cultural Hub for Salisbury . Rise Resound Rebuild (R3), is a Salisbury founded social enterprise that aims to renovate Grosvenor & Riverside House into a cultural hub for the city that reinvests its profits into the community - be that schools, businesses or infrastructure .
