Two men join priesthood of Christ, fraternity of Philadelphia
Fathers Tobin and Cavara offer the final blessing for Mass their first as new priests at the liturgy s conclusion.

Calling the ordination of two new priests “a wonderful day of blessing for the Church of Philadelphia,” Archbishop Nelson Perez celebrated a solemn liturgy Saturday, May 15 in the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul in which he ordained Father Kenneth Cavara and Father Mark Tobin to the priesthood.

Before leading the ordination rites, the archbishop said the two men from Chester County were joining “an incredible fraternity” of priests in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Despite social distancing and civil unrest, pro-life advocates stand “together strong” since “life unites,” said Archbishop Nelson Pérez.
Quoting the theme of the 2021 national March for Life, the archbishop encouraged some 110 in-person and 1,500 online faithful during a Jan. 29 Mass for Life he celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.

The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia will present its annual Christmas concert, “Prayer for Peace,” on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines regarding in-person gatherings, the concert will be held virtually.
All are invited to join in the Cathedral Basilica Schola and instrumentalists for an afternoon of peace and joy. This year’s program will include works by Abbie Betinis, Frank La Rocca, Julian Wachner and William Walton, as well as beloved Christmas carols for all to sing along.
