LAS CRUCES – Jimmy Collins, a member of the 1970 Amazin’ Aggies men’s basketball team that reached the Final Four, has died.
Collins was 74 years old. The Syracuse, New York native played at New Mexico State under Lou Henson from 1967-70. After a three-year year pro career in the NBA and ABA, Collins coached at Illinois-Chicago from 1996-2010 with three NCAA Tournament appearances. The school announced his passing on Sunday morning.
