For hockey fans in Sarnia, or those who have visited the old arena in downtown Sarnia, the fabled Barn on Brock Street will be getting a new name soon and it will honour one of Strathroy’s long time hockey legends and ambassadors of the game. On Monday night, Sarnia Council voted 6-2 in favour or renaming the Sarnia Arena after the late Pat Stapleton. “Whitey” passed away 13 months ago, and played in the border city for the Legionnaires. There has been no decision yet on an official name, but Brian Keelan who was the organizer of a petition to get the name changed hopes it might be called “Pat Stapleton Arena.”
