Senior Newman Blanchard. SPRUCE HEAD Senior Newman Blanchard, 87, of Spruce Head, Maine, passed away after a brief illness, on March 2, 2021, in his home, with his family nearby. Senior was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to George Russell Blanchard and Barbara (Senior) on November 4, 1933. He grew up in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, where his family had long owned and operated the Blanchard Bros. Quarry. He graduated from Uxbridge High School and then attended Vermont Academy, graduating in 1952. He then joined the US Army, being discharged in 1956 with the rank of SP3. He then briefly attended both Dartmouth College, and Bridgeport University in Connecticut. He lived and worked in Connecticut until he moved to Maine in 1968 and hand built his permanent home in Spruce Head. He worked as a special projects engineer for Tibbetts Industries in Camden and spent 40 happy years there until his retirement in 2008. ....
