Game would be played in Vegas on November 15th
August 2, 2021
FARGO, N.D. (Bison Report) Per multiple sources, North Dakota State will head to Sin City to take on UNLV, according to Bison Report Publisher Ross Uglem. NDSU and UNLV will reportedly lock horns on November 15th, as part of a southwest road swing for the Bison.
UNLV finished 7th in the Mountain West a season ago with an overall record of 12-15 and lost their head coach TJ Otzelberger, who headed “home” to Iowa State.
The Rebels quickly pivoted and hired former UNLV guard, and son of former Rebels head coach Lon Kruger, Kevin Kruger, as their new head coach. Coach Kruger quickly reshape the roster adding 9 transfers that provide length and shooting to UNLV. But his biggest get was retaining Bryce Hamilton, the Rebels leading scorer last year, who decided to come back and play his senior season and forgo a chance to be drafted into the NBA.

Griesel is donating 20 percent of profits made from NIL to Landon s Light Foundation
July 16, 2021
FARGO, N.D. Since the NCAA allowed their athletes to benefit off their name, image and likeness earlier this month, there have been very few examples of athletes adding a charitable component to it. One of those is right here in Fargo with North Dakota State men’s basketball player Sam Griesel.
Bison fans know the contributions guard Sam Griesel has made on the basketball court this season finishing second on the team in scoring and assists, however going forward in his career, Greisel will be known for much more than that.
ORU wins Summit League tourney, beats North Dakota St. 75-72
March 10, 2021 GMT
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Max Abmas scored 23 points, Francis Lacis made a game-saving block and steal, and No. 4-seed Oral Roberts beat third-seeded North Dakota State 75-72 on Tuesday night in the Summit League tournament championship.
It’s the first tournament title for Oral Roberts since 2007-08 and the first league championship since Oakland’s in 2010-11 that doesn’t include South Dakota State or North Dakota State.
Rocky Kreuser’s layup capped a 14-4 run by the Bison that tied the game at 72 with 39 seconds to play. Abmas made the second of two free throws with 14.6 remaining. On the other end, Sam Griesel had possession in the corner and tried to drive the lane, but Lacis smothered his layup attempt with 2.2 seconds to go.
To be clear, Tuesday night was about Oral Roberts.
The Golden Eagles’ romp at the Summit League Tournament championship was bookended by a fast start and Francis Lacis turning himself into a wall to clinch ORU’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 13 years. It was a special night, and there’s plenty of well-deserved press to come on the Golden Eagles.
But in between was a furious North Dakota State comeback that will vanish into the March mist. That’s inherently unfair, but part of what makes this month so fun.
That the second half of the Summit League title was garnering any of the general college basketball universe’s attention alongside BYU pestering Gonzaga was a minor miracle. As they did in the semifinals against South Dakota, the Bison entered the locker room at halftime behind on the scoreboard. But unlike against the Coyotes, it looked like the game had already been settled.
