(Village of Oak Lawn) OAK LAWN, IL The Oak Lawn Village Board named 6th District Trustee Tom Phelan as the new village manager during a special board meeting Tuesday morning. Phelan replaces Randy Palmer, who officially retired from the post following the announcement. Phelan s appointment comes after nearly two months of research, interviews and discussion. Phelan will earn an annual salary of $185,000, the same as the last two village managers, Mayor Terry Vorderer told Patch. Phelan will not be participating in the village s healthcare and benefits program.

Amazon opened one of its new Amazon Fresh stores last Wednesday at the site of a former Kmart at 4031 W. 95 th St. Mayor Sandra Bury, for one, was impressed. “The Village of Oak Lawn is thrilled to welcome Amazon Fresh as the main anchor at the newly redeveloped Oak Lawn Commons,” she said. “The store brings hundreds of much needed jobs, high-quality food, low prices and innovative convenience features. We are excited for the energy and excitement it will bring to this gateway into Oak Lawn.”

CHICAGO (WLS) The mayor of Oak Lawn is blaming Cook County State s Attorney Kim Foxx after a 12-year-old girl was killed in a crash by a driver who was out on bond. A 27-year-old man is now facing charges in the suspected drunk driving crash in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood on the Southwest Side that killed the young girl and injured several others. Dr. Sandra Bury, mayor of Oak Lawn, says the fault lies with Foxx. Foxx s office said decisions about bond are up to judges. Cire Robinson s grieving family is caught in the middle, wanting justice and answers.
