The naming of Mandy Garner as one of Sacramento County’s 2022 teachers of the year — and the first from Galt — has caused the Liberty Ranch High School teacher
With over 20 years working for the district, Lois Yount was approved as the new superintendent.
Yount was one of four finalists with elementary teaching experience and had been the districtâs Chief Business Official since 2018.
âThank you, board of trustees. I look forward to continue serving the board, the community of Galt. I also want to thank Dr. Schauer for her leadership. Sheâs been a great role model for me. Iâm excited about it. I look forward to the hard work. This is a wonderful district that does great things. I thank you for this opportunity,â Yount said after she was announced as incoming superintendent during the boardâs June 16 meeting.
A proposed new charter high school could soon be built in Sacramento. May 22 Sacramento County s teachers of the year from the last two years will be honored at this Sunday s River Cats game.
The Sacramento County Office of Education has recognized 27 teachers as outstanding educators an unusually large number due to last year s canceled ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The teachers, whose work between the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years is being honored, will be given two free tickets to Sunday s game and will be recognized in the stadium.
Four of the teachers of the year will also make an appearance on the field at Sutter Health Park in a special pre-game ceremony.
