The Circus Arts Conservatory had to cancel its Circus Sarasota and Cirque des Voix seasons this year along with its annual Big Top fundraising gala because of the coronavirus pandemic, but it will be giving fans a different kind of circus production with a special showcase called “Prevail.”
It will feature a variety of Cirque du Soleil veterans who have been unable to perform while productions are shut down. “Prevail” will be presented in the Sarasota Sailor Circus Arena for 10 performances March 5-7 and March 12-14 in front of a limited in-person audience. It also will be made available as an on-demand home streaming program.

The list of annual Sarasota-Manatee events put on hold because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to grow, as Circus Arts Conservatory has canceled its 2021 Big Top season.
Circus Sarasota, an annual gala and Cirque des Voix, its collaboration with Key Chorale, all will be canceled this year, the organization announced Wednesday. Circus Arts Conservatory made the decision because of COVID-19 and financial considerations.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the local art scene. On Wednesday, Circus Arts Conservatory announcing its cancelation of the 2021 Big Top season. The Van Wezel also announced they’re postponing one of their main shows.
“Yet another disappointment but we learned to roll with the punches,” said Mary Bensel, Executive Director for the Van Wezel.
This week, the Van Wezel postponed their first show on the main stage since March. Magician Reza’s “Edge of Illusion” was scheduled for Jan. 25th and was moved to Feb. 10th, 2022. Bensel said air purification units were supposed to be installed in the 1,700 seat hall as part of their safety measures.
