Description
Spirit of Boom is the sire everyone is talking about, especially as the offspring of his season when his service fee first rose to 55k, are now yearlings. Starting from an 11k service fee and with the types of mares that cheaper stallions attract, he has been getting results that are tracking or bettering the likes of I Am Invincible, Not A Single Doubt and Written Tycoon.
It’s the reason we have secured 5 Spirit of Booms so far in the past 12 months. Known for his soundness and durability, Spirit Of Boom raced 52 times, winning nine races and finishing in the placings on a further 20 occasions - amassing over $2.4 million in stakes. Performing consistently over five seasons, the handsome son of prolific winner getter Sequalo was up early - racing six times at two - and was still in great form in his last campaign, at his penultimate start winning the Gr.1 Doomben 10,000 (defeating his half-brother Temple Of Boom and the globe-trotting star Buffering) and at his fina
Watch Sugar Boom romps home at the Gold Coast Posted by: Graham Potter+ at 5:05pm on 9/1/2021
The Tony Gollan trained Sugar Boom turned the fifth race at the Gold Coast … the Gold Coast Open, a 900m dash … into a one-horse procession, dictating events from start to finish without ever looking in any danger of defeat.
Michael Rodd jumped the four-year-old daughter of Spirit Of Boom into the leading line out of the gates and, from there, she had the race result fully under her control.
Sugar Boom has had a lightly raced season … this was only her fourth start as a four-year-old, but she still had the form on the board to look the part here having won two and being placed third in the Listed Bribie Handicap in her last three starts.

Tony Gollan is more concerned by the prospect of a wet track than a wide barrier for speedy mare Sugar Boom
Tony Gollan is more concerned by the prospect of a wet track than a wide barrier for speedy mare Sugar Boom in the Gold Coast Quality (900m) on Saturday.
Sugar Boom has drawn the extreme outside in barrier 13 for the Quality but it is the prospect of a genuinely wet track that Gollan is hoping to avoid.
“I’m not overly concerned by the gate,” Gollan said.
