Concerns Expressed Over CNMI Worker Permit Renewals Submitted by admin on Mon, 12/24/2012 - 00:00 Slow processing by federal authorities worries employers By Ferdie de la Torre SAIPAN, CNMI (Saipan Tribune, Dec. 24, 2012) – Three major associations of employers and management in the Northern Marianas have joined forces to express their concern with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) over its recent announcement about Transitional Commonwealth-only (CW) permit renewal application s policy that, according to the groups, will force foreign employees to stop working, causing severe impact to the economy in the Commonwealth. The Saipan Chamber of Commerce, the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Society for Human Resource Management-CNMI voiced their concern with Washington, D.C.-based USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas.
