Sign Up Douglas Ross has outlined 15 major Bills he said the Scottish Conservatives would steer through Holyrood to rebuild the country after the coronavirus pandemic. Unveiling a manifesto he says represents a “positive policy programme”, the Tory leader vowed to “secure and accelerate our recovery from coronavirus”. The blueprint includes an aim to end unemployment with plans for £500 “Retrain to Rebuild” grants, job security councils, rapid retraining courses, and an Enterprise Bill that would establish an economic development agency for every region. It sets out a proposal for a “double lock” that would protect the NHS budget, and boost it through a £600 million taskforce to reduce treatment times.

Ross warns Sturgeon s Indyref2 plan would mean economic chaos SCOTLAND’S economy would be sent “spiralling into chaos” if there was a second independence referendum, Douglas Ross as he launched his manifesto. The Scottish Tory leader claimed that putting the constitution ahead of the recovery from the Covid pandemic would be the “height of reckless”. The SNP said the Tory position of trying to block Indyref2 was “utterly undemocratic”. Mr Ross launched his manifesto with a pledge to “rebuild Scotland” as it emerges from lockdown, including a £600m fund to help clear the NHS treatment backlog. The Tories said the one-off boost should be managed by an independent task force of clinicians rather than government, prioritising cases by need, and would be on top of the extra £2bn they have already pledged for the NHS over the course of the next parliament.

Glasgow Tories in promise to deliver huge social housing programme in election campaign

Thomas Kerr GLASGOW Conservative councillor Thomas Kerr is backing plans to deliver the biggest social house building programme “since the beginning of devolution”. Mr Kerr who is a Shettleston candidate in the upcoming Scottish elections says the pledge from his party will deliver 40,000 social homes for rent across Scotland during the next Parliament, which is around 8,000 per year. He added that the proposals aim to reach building 25,000 homes in total per year by the end of the next Parliamentary session. The Scottish Conservatives would also introduce a Communities Bill which would ensure that any new housebuilding in Shettleston would be supplemented by increased support for vital services like local roads and schools.
