The Library was recently visited by staff members from the Koorie Heritage Trust s Family History service. Jenny, Margaret and Lionel were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Library before setting to work searching for Aboriginal family history in the Library s collection of manuscripts, photographs and microfilm.
The Koorie Heritage Trust Family History Service helps Victorian members of the Stolen Generation, Koories in custody and members of the Koorie Community to research their family history. You can read more about their work on their website and Facebook page.
Community Heritage Grants - Training
Capacity and skills development is an integral part of the Community Heritage Grants program. CHG completed projects summaries. Here you will find the names of all consultants who have undertaken PNAs for recent CHG recipients. Contact the individual project contacts for advice on how they managed these consultancies.
2. Cost estimate
A PNA usually involves a conservator carrying out a site visit (2 days) to assess the condition of the collection and the environmental conditions of the storage facility. They then collate the information and produce a report (4-5 days).
Preservation needs assessments will be funded at the standard rate of $4500 (ex GST). If your organisation is not located in a major city, you need to include the cost of the consultant s travel to your location plus 2 days expenses in your grant application. Information about calculating expenses can be found in ATO Tax Determination 2020/5.
