Big Rapids native, Army Master Sergeant, laid to rest

BIG RAPIDS After a career of protecting, serving and defending his country, Big Rapids native and U.S. Army Master Sergeant Jeffrey Saum was laid to rest over the weekend.
Saum, 33, passed away Dec. 7, 2020, in Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
At the age of 20, Saum a 2006 Big Rapids High graduate enlisted in the United States Army in January 2008 as a 25U, Signal Support Systems Specialist.
He completed Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. ....
