KALAMAZOO, Mich. A team of advertising and promotion students from Western Michigan University s Haworth College of Business placed third in its division of the American Advertising Federation s National Student Advertising Competition. Led by
Dr. Karen M. Lancendorfer, professor of marketing and director of the advertising and promotion program, and assisted by
Greg Gerfen, instructor of marketing, the team competed in District 6, which is considered a mega-district due to the high number of collegiate teams competing for the chance to move forward to the finals. This is the fifth time in six years that a team from WMU has placed in the top three.
Caitlin Allen and
Catherine Lemus from Western Michigan University s Haworth College of Business were among just six students statewide to win 2020-21 scholarships from The Adcraft Club of Detroit s Adcraft Foundation. The Adcraft Club of Detroit is the nation s largest advertising club. Its foundation annually awards cash grants to advertising and marketing students from Michigan universities. Students must submit an application and transcript, along with essays demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the advertising business.
Caitlin Allen
Allen of Clinton Township, Michigan, received a $1,500 Adcraft Foundation Scholarship. She is a senior majoring in advertising and promotion, with minors in management and general business. She has been active with WMU s AdClub for four years and is currently serving as president for the club. Allen also studied abroad in 2019 at the Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic. She will be participating in the University o
