They don’t like it when local governments become sanctuary communities, of course, but they do so love to make owning a gun more onerous with every passing day, even if they have to do it by creating a patchwork of gun laws that are damn near impossible to navigate. Luckily, a lot of states have preemption which prevents this kind of thing. Ann Arbor officials are voicing support for legislation introduced by state Sen. About a couple dozen Ann Arbor homeowners have applied to add accessory dwelling units known as ADUs to their properties since the city adopted an ADU ordinance in 2016. In some cases, ADUs can be in detached structures such as a carriage house or an apartment above a garage, or a separate rental unit within a home or home addition.
