Again, Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

Keeps mum on Buhari’s return Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, for the second time, presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday. Though President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to return to Abuja this week from the United Kingdom where he is for medical checks, Osinbajo was silent on the date of his return. The session observed a minute silence in honour of former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mahmud Tukur. Permanent Secretary, Ecological Funds Office, Mrs. Habiba Lawal, standing in for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said Tukur died on Friday in Abuja at 82 years of age. Tukur served as minister during Buhari’s military regime in the early 1980s.

Buhari presides over first cabinet meeting in 2021

President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the year 2021 currently holding at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja. Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari are physically attending the meeting, which is also the 30th to be held virtually. Nine ministers are also attending the meeting. They are the Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi and Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. x Others are Ministers of Education, Adamu Adamu, Industry Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, Environment, Muhammad Mahmood and Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono.

Kayla Megwa     President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday signed the 2021 budget and the finance bill into law at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja. This comes ten days after both chambers of the National Assembly passed the N13.5trn budget and three days after it was transmitted to the President for assent. President Buhari presented the proposed 2021 budget to the National Assembly on October 8. The National Assembly, while approving the proposal on December 21, raised the estimate of N13.082 trillion to N13.588 trillion. This was an increase of N505 billion from the proposed figures presented by the Buhari administration.
