THE Farnworth community has rallied after burglars broke into a pet supplies shop in the early hours of Tuesday. Two offenders, hooded up and wearing masks, forced their way into Nigel’s Pet Supplies on The Market Precinct at around 5.15am with a crowbar. Owner Nigel Cain, who has run his business for 32 years, was woken by an alert on his phone, which warned him that the shop alarm had gone off. He quickly made his way over to his store and called the police. Nigel, 53, from Farnworth, said: “When I was driving in I was hoping it was a false alarm.
Known as Nature’s Capital City, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri lies on the riverine of the Pendas River and overlooks the Straits of Johor.
AS a master community developer, Sunway started its first project in township development over 40 years ago in the Klang Valley. Sunway City Kuala Lumpur was transformed from a mining wasteland into a thriving township of 200,000 and is now globally known as one of the best tourism destinations as well as a value-generating hub for the nation.
In Johor, Sunway Property started Sunway City Iskandar Puteri seven years ago, with the mission to plant a community seed in the township. The developer had plans to nurture and foster a vibrant community in Iskandar Malaysia through its largest township modelled after its successful flagship township Sunway City Kuala Lumpur and Sunway City Ipoh.
I read with interest how Farnworth town centre is to be ‘rebooted’ and made more upmarket to appeal to young professionals, artists and artisans, by building 200 new homes on King Street. It seems a small ‘gentrified quarter’ is to be developed for hipsters with cafe bars, delis, pop up gin bars and art galleries and its own eco system, with a linear park giving it a ‘village feel’ with a small market too. It all sounds very nice, but will all the rest of us from Farnworth be welcome to enjoy the attractions, or will there be some sort of barrier to prevent the lower orders from bringing the ambience down?
