The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission uplisted the species July 9 in response to a petition filed by five conservation groups to reclassify the marbled murrelet from Threatened to Endangered under the state’s Endangered Species Act.

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission voted 4-3 Friday to reclassify the marbled murrelet from threatened to endangered under the state s Endangered Species Act.
A total of 28 people testified for and against up-listing the murrelet, including several panelists invited to testify. the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a news release, which continues below.
The Oregon Endangered Species Act sets out criteria and procedural requirements that apply to the commission s determination on whether to reclassify a species.
