ISLAMABAD: The federal law and justice ministry has issued half a dozen letters requisitioning officers and security cover for the Broadsheet Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat.
ISLAMABAD: The federal government intends to join the review proceedings initiated by the Sindh government against the acquittal of the accused ordered by the Supreme Court in the murder case of US journalist Daniel Pearl.
A spokesman for the Attorney General Office on Saturday announced that it would be filing an application with the Supreme Court seeking permission to join as a party the proceedings before the top court to seek review and recall of its Jan 28, 2021 Supreme Court judgment of acquitting Ahmed Omer Saeed Sheikh believed to be the mastermind of the murder of Mr Pearl and the co-accused.

The Federal Ministry of Law and Justice has passed necessary directions to several departments to activate the Broadsheet Commission.
In pursuance of the cabinet decision, the law ministry has written letters to the Interior Division, FIA director general, Chief Commissioner, Inspector General of Police Islamabad and Attorney General for Pakistan for activation of the Broadsheet inquiry commission led by former Supreme Court judge Azmat Saeed Sheikh.
The ministry, in its letter to the FIA director general, stated that services of two seasoned experts having expertise in financial matters are required by the inquiry commission.
