The Sangamon County Fair is back this year with health protocols in place.
The Sangamon County Fair Board announced via press release today that the dates for the fair have been set for June 16th-20
th. The fair will be using current COVID-19 protocols which include extensive sanitizing and enhanced cleaning protocols as well as social distancing recommendations per the current Sangamon County Health Department and Restore Illinois guidelines.
Multi-platinum rap star Nelly will headline the grandstand on Thursday, June 17
th. Blanco Brown and special guest DJ DH3 will open the show.
Country star Riley Greene will perform Friday, June 18

Nearly 32% of Morgan County residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19, with no adverse reactions reported. Health officials say the continuing vaccine hesitancy could be harmful to the youngest of the population.
On Thursday, the Sangamon County Health Department called for paramedics after a person who had received a dose of the Moderna vaccine.
According to a report by WICS, health officials say the individual had a slight reaction to the vaccine and the ambulance was called out of an abundance of caution. The individual was able to go home shortly after.
Morgan County Health Department Administrator Dale Bainter says his department has administered almost 23,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and the majority of symptoms that are reported have been fairly minor.
The Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds has been chosen to participate in a mass vaccination clinic of college students in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Friday that the Orr Building s mass vaccination site, as well as 18 other sites across the state, would participate in College Vaccination Days, designed to help community college and university students receive a COVID-19 vaccine before the school year ends.
The Orr Building s clinic will take place on Sunday, with similar events taking place at the other sites beginning Saturday and continuing through Tuesday. Colleges and universities will provide links to encourage students to sign up for the vaccinations. Lincoln Land Community College is encouraging students to sign up for a time Sunday by logging on to the Sangamon County Health Department s webpage, scdph.org.
