INDIAN RIVER COUNTY A Brightline train station on the Treasure Coast still could be seven years away, and likely will be in Martin or St. Lucie county.
A railroad official was noncommittal about a timeline for the station, which was promised in the company s legal settlement agreement with Martin County in 2015.
First priority is completing Brightline s 168-mile corridor between West Palm Beach and Orlando International Airport sometime in 2022, said Ben Porritt, Brightline senior vice president of corporate affairs, Once completed, trains are expected to travel through the Treasure and Space coasts at up to 110 mph.
The settlement with Martin County commits Brightline to a station within five years of the start of train service, Porritt said.
