Beauty of Potohar region hailed

Islamabad: The citizens of twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi have largely welcomed the ‘landscape beauty’ of Potohar region while taking ride on newly inaugurated ‘Safari train’ on Sunday amid promoting tourism activities and providing a comfortable transport facility to the commuters.
In order to promote tourism across the Potohar region, Pakistan Railways has launched Safari Tourist Train which runs between Golra and Attock Khurd railway stations.
According to an official of Golra Railway station, the safari train is operating on every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday which was allowing the tourists to explore the beauty of the Potohar region, consisting of Margalla Hills, Sangjani tunnel, and many historical bridges. A commuter while speaking to private channel said the launch of safari train is a vital step towards promoting the culture and beauty of Potohar landscapes.

In an effort to boost tourism the tourism dept with the collaboration of Pakistan Railways has come with a novel and commendable idea.
A nineteenth century refurbished steam locomotive chugged out of Golra Railway Station with ministers and senior officials on board for its maiden voyage as a tourist train on Monday.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani along with Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati inaugurated ‘Safari Tourist Train’ at Golra Railway Station on Sunday to promote tourism.
The train will take tourists from Golra Station to Hassan Abdal, Attock Khurd and Attock City and surrounding areas every Friday, Saturday and Sunday charging Rs1,000 for adults, Rs500 for children and Rs3,000 for saloon car.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Railways is launching a weekly ‘Safari Tourist Train’ from Rawalpindi to Attock Khurd on Feb 14.
The day-trip safari train will pass through the beautiful landscape of potohar consisting of Margalla Hills, Sangjani tunnel and many minor and major bridges like Chablal Bridge, Haro Bridge, Ghazi Borotha and Attock Khurd bridges, according to Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railways, Munawwar Shah.
The journey starting from Rawalpindi station will end at historic Attock Khurd Station after passing through Golra, Taxila, Hassanabdal and Attock city railway stations.
The Safari Train is being launched by Pakistan Railways in collaboration with the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab and Commissioner Rawalpindi, he said.
