As Muslim family of four is killed in terror attack, Canada must do much more to tackle Islamophobia

A Pakistani-Canadian family out on a stroll on Sunday evening was murdered in a horrific act of Islamophobic violence in London, Ontario. A nine-year-old boy, hospitalised with serious injuries, is the only survivor of a terror attack that killed his sister, father, mother and grandmother.

“In that moment, I felt helpless and afraid for my life.”
These are the words of a Black Muslim woman attacked in February at the Century Park transit station in Edmonton. This incident would have been bad enough on its own. Yet since December, there have been at least six such incidents against Black Muslim women, all of which have occurred in broad daylight and in public spaces surrounded by traffic.

Rebel Media’s Sheila Gunn Reid aims her YouTube spotlight at a GraceLife Church outside Edmonton, which, she reported last week, “has been the site of peaceful Christian civil disobedience” after Pastor James Coates refused to comply with public-health orders to limit crowd sizes and wear a mask.
“Two Sundays ago, he was arrested by the local RCMP for violating public-health orders,” she explains, but “took to the pulpit again” on Feb. 14, “in defiance of the government but in obedience to his God … while the RCMP waited outside.”
