Abbott to make statewide announcement at Montelongo s in Lubbock

Gov. Greg Abbott is scheduled to make a statewide announcement in Lubbock on Tuesday.  According to a news release, the governor will address small business and community leaders from the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce at Montelongo s Mexican Restaurant on Clovis Road as part of a statewide announcement. Abbott s last stop through Lubbock was in November, when he joined local and state officials to provide an update on the distribution of bamlanivimab, the Eli Lilly & Company monoclonal antibody therapy to help treat COVID-19 patients. Before that, on Nov. 10, the state provided mobile medical tents that were erected at University Medical Center and Covenant Health as the region experienced a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations, which has since receeded.

Body of Missing 78-Year-old Man Found Behind Lubbock Bingo Hall The body of a missing Lubbock man was found the morning of Friday, December 18th. A search party had been formed to locate 78-year-old Ysabel Flores, who was last seen almost a week prior. KAMC News reports that Lubbock Police officers responded to a possible deceased individual in the 3600 block of Clovis Road at around 9:48 a.m. The body wasn t immediately identified, but after it was sent to the Lubbock County Medical Examiner s Office, it was confirmed to have belonged to Flores. It s said that Flores was in the early stages of dementia, and that he was last seen at the same bingo hall he was found behind.

Lubbock police investigating death of missing man

Lubbock police on Friday were investigating the death of a 78-year-old man whose body was found in north Lubbock nearly a week after he was reported missing. Police officials confirmed on Friday that a body found in the 3800 block of Clovis Road was that of Ysabel Flores. Flores was last seen about 9 a.m. Dec. 12 at his residence in the 3100 block of Auburn Street. According to a Dec. 15 Lubbock police news release, Flores, who was considered endangered for medical reasons, frequented the bingo hall in the 3800 block of Clovis Road. His cause of death and circumstances about how he was found were not immediately clear as the investigation continues and an autopsy is pending.
