Limerick Council reveals locations of new outdoor dining spots Reporter: nick@limerickleader.ie Temporary outdoor dining spots look set to become a common feature of Limerick s streets this summer );   ); LIMERICK City and County Council has revealed the locations of a number of new outdoor dining spots. With public health officials and politicians urging an outdoor summer, the local authority has responded in kind and has identified a number of sports for temporary ‘build-outs’ for al-fresco dining and drinking. It’s anticipated these will be provided well in advance of the further loosening of restrictions, which will allow pubs and restaurants to serve outdoors after June 7.

Motorist fined following collision at busy Limerick junction Reporter: );   ); A MOTORIST who struck another vehicle after breaking a stop sign at a busy junction in the city centre has been fined €500. Vijandran Somasekaran, 48, who has an address at Curragh Birin, Castletroy pleaded guilty to careless driving and driving without insurance or a lice on April 24, 2018. Sergeant Sean Murray told Limerick District Court the two-vehicle collision occurred at the junction of Catherine Street and Glentworth Street and that there were no serious injuries reported to gardai. Solicitor Darach McCarthy said traffic calming measures have since been put in place at the junction and that his client - a family man - has no previous convictions.

Deaths in Limerick: Monday, February 22, 2021 Reporter: The death has occurred of Eric Smyth, Janemount Court, Corbally, and formerly of CIE. Eric died (suddenly) at his residence. Predeceased by his parents Richard and Elizabeth, his siblings Pat, Joseph and Betty. Very deeply regretted by his loving daughter Laura, brothers Mike, Dick, Raymond and Eugene, sister Marie (Coventry, U.K.), grandchildren Jordan, Kyle and Amelia, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. May He Rest in Peace Funeral arriving to St. Munchin s Church, Clancy Strand, for a private Requiem Mass, for family only, on Thursday (February 25th) at 11am Mass will be live streamed (link to follow). Funeral afterwards to Mount St. Lawrence (Extension) Cemetery.
