AIAM, robotics teams hosting virtual Women of Aerospace event - Grand Rapids Business Journal

Grand Rapids Business Journal Courtesy Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan The Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan and FIRST robotics are offering a free virtual event for students, parents and companies from Michigan’s aerospace industry. The Women of Aerospace event, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, will feature keynote speakers from NASA and six panels moderated by women from NASA. FIRST robotics teams participating from West Michigan include students from East Grand Rapids High School, East Grand Rapids Middle School, East Kentwood High School and Crestwood Middle School. Angela Kimber Courtesy Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan Stacy Paul, CEO and aerospace engineer from Array of Engineers of Grand Rapids, and Angela Kimber, mechanical engineer from Woodward in Zeeland will be panelists, along with Anna Giboney, a FIRST alumna and mechanical engineering student from Calvin University.

New FCPS policy for snow days could come into play Wednesday

Snow days may no longer be something to celebrate for students of Frederick County Public Schools. Beginning this school year, FCPS announced that in the event of inclement weather, students and staff would engage in virtual instruction from home. What that means for the future when schools are fully reopened is unclear, but for the time being, students will continue to follow the schedule for virtual learning that is currently in effect, according to Daryl Boffman, executive director of public affairs for FCPS. An announcement regarding in-person, small-group instruction will be made by 5 a.m. on days with inclement weather, and if needed, those students will also participate in virtual learning.
